Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, a large parish located in Portage, Michigan, has a full time Musician-Liturgist job opening. Primary responsibilities include serving as the primary musician for weekend liturgies, as well as weddings and funerals and other liturgical event; conducting rehearsals for various musical and choir groups; serving as the primary liturgy planner working in collaboration with clergy;  and coordinating additional music groups for liturgies.  Qualified candidates will possess Bachelor's degree or higher in music or related field of study & have a degree or evidence of training on Catholic liturgy. Experience in parish music ministry which includes leading congregational singing, choral conducting, assisting voices, and proficiency on piano and organ. Must have ability to work with youth and adults who may be trained and untrained musicians. Organizational skills and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Access, Power Point, and Publisher. Abilities to ability to develop instrumental and vocal parts, to operate sound and visual media are a plus, and to use Sibelius engraving software are all plusses.

Job Description:
St. Eugene is a vibrant, community-oriented parish seeking an energetic, faith-filled pastoral musician to lead all liturgical and musical efforts for the parish.
The Director of Music & Liturgy reports directly to the pastor and works closely with the rest of the Pastoral Staff and his/her counterpart at St. Monica Parish in Whitefish Bay.
The Director is responsible for:
•Leading the three standing parish choirs (Adult, 3-octave Handbell, and Children), Cantors, and Instrumentalists.
•Supervising volunteer coordinators for all liturgical ministries (including Art & Environment)
•Serving as principle musician for all parish liturgies, including planning and preparation of all music for said liturgies.
•Working with School for school masses and student cantors.
•Helping lead the Worship Committee
•Creating weekly/seasonal worship aids and ensuring copyright laws and reporting are followed
•Arranging music for ensembles as needed
•Creating weekly Prayers of the Faithful and any other Liturgical blessings or celebrations
•Ongoing formation of all music and liturgical ministers on a regular basis
•A practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
•High level of skill playing both organ and piano, as well as singing/vocal training and conducting
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, MS Publisher, Sibelius or Finale music editing software

Music Director for Life Teen Mass (part time)

We have a very active and exciting Life Teen youth ministry program, including 250-300 high school freshmen and sophomores in the Confirmation preparation program and 60 or more high school juniors and seniors in our peer ministry program. We have a 5:00pm Life Teen Mass each Sunday throughout the year. Homilies are often teen oriented. Teens of various ages participate as lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist, servers and ushers. We also have music oriented to the teens. We need one or more adult music leaders, or an adult-led band that can lead us in worship for the Mass. We'd also want teens to participate by playing or singing as well. The CD/AO’s musical selections should reflect a sound knowledge of Lutheran musical traditions as well as a range of musical styles. CD/AO reports to the Pastor; meets approx. 6-8 times per year with Worship and Music Committee; assists in preparing yearly budgets and annual reports; and oversees maintenance in good condition of all equipment used for music.
