Choral Festival 2007 - With All the Choirs of Angels

Notes to Directors of Music and Choir Directors

All interested choirs and singers are welcome to register - this includes, but is not limited to, children's choirs, adult choirs, high school and youth (teen) choirs and funeral choirs.  Adult individuals are also welcome to participate and may register even if they are not members of an established choir or if their parish choir is not participating as a group.

Children and teens MUST register as part of an established choir.  Parishes are welcome to register multiple choirs - an adult choir, a children's choir and/or a teen choir.  If your parish does not have a children's or teen choir, this might just be a very good opportunity to start one.

Rehearsals are scheduled all across the Archdiocese and are held on various dates and times.  Check the registration forms for locations, dates, and times.  Encourage your choristers to attend as many regional rehearsals as possible.  Each singer must attend at least one regional rehearsal and is expected to arrive at the festival with his/her own music well prepared.

Great care has been taken in the selection of repertoire so that the vast majority of music will be usable at the parish level.  Parishes with or without a children's choir will find the repertoire practical and useful.  Every singer is expected to use published copies of all the music.  An order form can be found with the registration materials.  Your choir may already own copies of the chosen repertoire and your choristers are welcome to bring and use the published copies from their existing libraries.  You may also order additional copies of the music.

The festival's Sunday schedule will last from 2:00 PM until after 6:00 PM with one scheduled (15 minute) break.  Please remember to eat lunch before your arrival and arrive with plenty of time to be in the appropriate rehearsal space on time.  We will being promptly at 2:00 PM.

Special Notes for parishes bringing children and/or teens:

All necessary written permissions for children to attend the festival and transportation for the children is the responsibility of the registering parish.  Each parish registering children under the age of 18 is expected to bring an adequate number of chaperones to supervise them at the regional rehearsals and at the Cathedral. Chaperones must register, but will not be charged a registration fee.  Chaperones must be people who are NOT singers in the festival, because children and adults will be rehearsing in two different spaces.   Chaperones should have a permission slip and medical authorization form with them for each young person in their charge.
